Level your Barbarian from 1 to 75 using Double Swing / Frenzy → Whirlwind / Berserk. Includes skill progression, stat allocation, and gameplay tips.
Overview
This guide walks through leveling a Barbarian from 1 to 75 efficiently. Uses Double Swing / Frenzy → Whirlwind / Berserk with a respec around level 30-38. By the end you will have used 1 of your 3 respeccs and be ready for your endgame build.
The Barbarian levels with Double Swing and Frenzy through Normal, then respecs to Whirlwind with Berserk for physical immunes. Shout and Battle Orders boost survivability significantly. Farm The Countess for runes for Stealth, Strength, and Honor weapons. Look for exceptional polearms for your mercenary's Insight. Use Howl to scatter dangerous packs. Prioritize life leech and resistances on all gear slots.

- Level 40-75: Enough Dexterity to keep 50% Chance to Block, Rest into Vitality
- Helm: Lore (Ort+Sol) in a 2-socket helm — +1 skills. Later, Bulwark (Shael+Io+Sol) for life leech and PDR
- Armor: Stealth (Tal+Eth) in a 2-socket body armor — FRW, FHR, mana regen. Upgrade to Smoke (Nef+Lum) for resistances, or Treachery (Shael+Thul+Lem) for IAS
- Weapons (Dual Wield): Strength (Amn+Tir) in a 2-socket mace/axe — crushing blow, life leech. Steel (Tir+El) in a 2-socket sword/axe. Upgrade to Honor (Amn+El+Ith+Tir+Sol) in a 5-socket exceptional weapon. Endgame: Oath (Shael+Pul+Mal+Lum) or Grief in a phase blade
- Weapon (Mercenary): Insight (Ral+Tir+Tal+Sol) in a 4-socket polearm. Upgrade to Obedience (Hel+Ko+Tir+Eth+Ral) for massive damage
- Gloves: Crafted blood gloves or any with IAS, strength, life leech
- Belt: Any with resistances, life, FHR. String of Ears unique belt is excellent
- Boots: Any with FRW, resistances. Gore Rider unique boots for deadly strike
- Rings: Rare rings with leech, AR, life. Raven Frost for CBF in Hell
- Amulet: Any with +skills, leech, resistances
- Mercenary (Act 2 Nightmare — Holy Freeze or Might): Insight in polearm, Treachery armor, Tal Rasha's helm or Bulwark
