Paladin Leveling Guide
Level your Paladin from 1 to 75 using Holy Fire / Zeal → Blessed Hammer. Includes skill progression, stat allocation, and gameplay tips.
Overview
This guide walks through leveling a Paladin from 1 to 75 efficiently. Uses Holy Fire / Zeal → Blessed Hammer with a respec around level 32-38. By the end you will have used 1 of your 3 respeccs and be ready for your endgame build.
The Paladin levels with Holy Fire aura and Zeal through Normal, which deals massive fire damage with zero gear. Pick up Blessed Hammer at level 18 and respec fully into Hammerdin around level 32-38. Blessed Hammer ignores most immunities and deals magic damage. Concentration aura boosts hammer damage. Dual Spirit (sword + shield) is the Hammerdin's most important power spike — aim for this as soon as possible. Shop for +skills scepters early and farm The Countess for runes.

- Level 36-75: Enough Strength for gear, enough Dexterity for max block with Holy Shield active, rest into Vitality
- Helm: Lore (Ort+Sol) in a 2-socket helm — +1 skills
- Armor: Stealth (Tal+Eth) in a 2-socket body armor — FCR, FRW, mana regen. Upgrade to Smoke (Nef+Lum) or Vipermagi in Nightmare
- Weapon (Pre-Respec Holy Fire): Any fast weapon with high base damage. Steel (Tir+El) in a 2-socket sword or mace
- Weapon (Post-Respec Hammerdin): Spirit (Tal+Thul+Ort+Amn) in a 4-socket broad sword or crystal sword — +2 skills, 25-35% FCR, mana, vita. This is your most important item
- Shield: Spirit (Tal+Thul+Ort+Amn) in a 4-socket paladin shield with base resists — +2 skills, FCR, resists. This is priority #2 after weapon spirit. Ancient's Pledge or Rhyme as a bridge until you find a 4-socket paladin shield
- Gloves: Any with FCR, mana, resist
- Belt: Any with resistances, life, FHR
- Boots: Any with FRW and resistances
- Rings: Rare rings with life, mana, FCR, resistances
- Amulet: Any with +skills, FCR, or resistances
- Mercenary (Act 2 Nightmare — Holy Freeze or Might): Insight (Ral+Tir+Tal+Sol) in a 4-socket polearm — meditation aura keeps your mana full. Armor: Stealth or Smoke or Treachery. Helm: Bulwark or Tal Rasha's mask
