Overview
Diablo 2: Resurrected has a rich community vocabulary built up over two decades. Whether you are new to the game or returning after a long break, this glossary covers the most common terms, abbreviations, and slang you will encounter in trade games, forums, and chat.
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| D2R | Diablo 2: Resurrected — the remastered version of Diablo II and its expansion Lord of Destruction. |
| LoD | Lord of Destruction — the expansion pack for the original Diablo II. |
| SC / HC | Softcore / Hardcore. In HC, death is permanent. |
| Ladder | Seasonal competitive mode with fresh characters and economy. Resets periodically. |
| NL | Non-Ladder — the permanent game mode characters move to after a ladder season ends. |
| SP | Single Player — offline play mode. |
| BO | Battle Orders — the Barbarian warcry skill that boosts life, mana, and stamina for the party. |
| MF | Magic Find — the % chance to find magic, rare, set, and unique items. A core stat for farming. |
| FCR | Faster Cast Rate — reduces the delay between casting spells. Key stat for casters. |
| FHR | Faster Hit Recovery — reduces the stun animation when you take a hit. |
| FRW | Faster Run/Walk — increases movement speed. |
| IAS | Increased Attack Speed — speeds up melee and ranged weapon attacks. |
| CB | Crushing Blow — a chance to remove a percentage of the target's current HP in one hit. Very effective against bosses. |
| DS | Deadly Strike — a chance to deal double physical damage on a hit. |
| OW | Open Wounds — causes the target to bleed, preventing monster heal and dealing damage over time. |
| ED | Enhanced Damage (on weapons) or Enhanced Defense (on armor), depending on context. |
| AR | Attack Rating — determines your chance to hit a target in melee/ranged combat. |
| PDR / MDR | Physical Damage Reduced / Magic Damage Reduced — flat damage reduction stats. |
| Res | Resistances — your defense against Fire, Cold, Lightning, and Poison damage. Max is 75% by default. |
| TZ | Terror Zone — an area terrorized each hour where monsters scale to your level, offering better XP and loot. |
| Sunder | Sunder Charms — unique grand charms that break monster immunities in Terror Zones. |
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Uni / Uniq | Unique item — gold-named items with fixed special properties. |
| RW | Runeword — powerful items created by inserting specific runes in the correct order into socketed base items. |
| Eth | Ethereal — items that cannot be repaired but have higher base damage/defense. Valuable for mercenaries (who don't lose durability) and indestructible runewords. |
| Perf / Perfect | An item with the maximum possible rolls on its variable stats. |
| GG | Godly Gear — an exceptionally well-rolled or rare item. |
| Charsi / Charsi Food | An item worth vendoring (selling to the NPC Charsi). Basically worthless. |
| BIN | Buy It Now — a fixed trade price, no negotiation. |
| ISO | In Search Of — looking to buy/trade for a specific item. |
| FT | For Trade — an item you are offering. |
| WUG / WUW | What U Got / What U Want — asking someone to make an offer. |
| Ber / Jah / HR | High Rune — the most valuable runes (Vex and above) used as the primary currency in trading. |
| Ist | Often used as a mid-tier currency unit. "2 Ist" means roughly 2 Ist runes in value. |
| PGem | Perfect Gem — used as a low-tier currency, especially for rerolling grand charms. |
| Socket Quest / Larzuk | Using the Act 5 quest reward to add sockets to an item. A valuable one-time-per-difficulty reward. |
| Upped | An item whose base type has been upgraded using the Horadric Cube (e.g., normal → exceptional → elite). |
| 4os / 5os / 6os | Number of open sockets in an item (e.g., "4os Monarch" = 4-socket Monarch shield). |
| Merc / Merc Gear | Mercenary — the NPC follower you hire. "Merc gear" refers to equipping your mercenary. |
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Run | Repeatedly killing a specific boss or clearing an area for loot. Example: "Meph runs", "Pit runs". |
| MF Run | A farming run specifically focused on maximizing Magic Find. |
| Tele / Teleport | Using the Sorceress Teleport skill (or Enigma runeword) to quickly navigate maps. |
| Moat Trick | A technique to kill Mephisto safely by luring him to the edge of the moat and attacking from across it. |
| Static | Static Field — a Sorceress skill that removes 25% of a monster's current HP. Extremely powerful against bosses. |
| P1 / P3 / P5 / P7 / P8 | Player count setting (/players X). Higher counts increase monster difficulty, XP, and drop rates. |
| TC / Treasure Class | The internal loot table tier a monster rolls from. Higher TCs can drop better items. |
| Alvl / Ilvl / Mlvl / Qlvl / Clvl | Area Level / Item Level / Monster Level / Quality Level / Character Level — various level values that affect drops and item requirements. |
| Pit | The Pit (Tamoe Highland, Act 1) — a popular level 85 area for farming elite uniques. |
| AT | Ancient Tunnels (Lost City, Act 2) — a level 85 area with no cold immunes, ideal for Blizzard Sorceresses. |
| CS | Chaos Sanctuary (Act 4) — endgame area leading to Diablo. Popular for XP and loot. |
| WSK | Worldstone Keep (Act 5) — high-level area before Baal. Levels 2 and 3 are popular farm spots. |
| Cows | Secret Cow Level — a popular farming area accessed via Horadric Cube recipe in Act 1 after killing Baal. |
| Uber / DClone | Uber Tristram (endgame boss event for Torch) and Diablo Clone (spawned by selling SOJs, drops Annihilus). |
| Torch | Hellfire Torch — a unique large charm obtained from Uber Tristram, gives +3 to a random class's skills. |
| Anni | Annihilus — a unique small charm dropped by Diablo Clone, gives +1 to all skills, stats, res, and XP. |

| Hdin / Hammerdin | Hammerdin — a Paladin build using Blessed Hammer. One of the most popular and powerful builds. |
| Smiter | A Paladin build using the Smite skill, popular for Uber Tristram. |
| Blizz Sorc | A Sorceress build focused on the Blizzard skill. |
| Light Sorc | A Lightning Sorceress build using Lightning/Chain Lightning. |
| Nova Sorc | A Sorceress build using the Nova skill, typically with Infinity for light immunes. |
| Javazon | An Amazon build using javelin skills, particularly Lightning Fury and Charged Strike. |
| Bowazon | An Amazon build focused on bow skills like Multishot or Strafe. |
| Summon Necro / Fishymancer | A Necromancer build focused on summoning skeletons and a revive army. Great for beginners. |
| Trapsin | An Assassin build focused on Lightning Sentry and other trap skills. |
| WW Barb / Whirlwind Barb | A Barbarian build using the Whirlwind skill. |
| Singer Barb | A Barbarian build using War Cry for damage. |
| Wind Druid | A Druid build using Tornado and Hurricane. |
| Fury Druid | A Druid build in werewolf form using the Fury skill. |
| Term | Meaning |

| Enigma | Jah + Ith + Ber runeword in body armor. Gives Teleport to any class. |
| Infinity | Ber + Mal + Ber + Ist runeword in polearms. Provides Conviction aura to break immunities. |
| HOTO | Heart of the Oak — Ko + Vex + Pul + Thul runeword in a flail/mace. Popular caster weapon. |
| CTA | Call to Arms — Amn + Ral + Mal + Ist + Ohm runeword. Used on weapon swap for Battle Orders. |
| Spirit | Tal + Thul + Ort + Amn runeword. Best budget caster weapon (sword) and shield (Monarch). |
| Grief | Eth + Tir + Lo + Mal + Ral runeword in a Phase Blade. Top melee weapon. |
| Fort / Fortitude | El + Sol + Dol + Lo runeword in body armor. Best physical damage armor. |
| Shako | Harlequin Crest — a unique Shako (helmet). One of the most versatile items in the game. |
| Maras | Mara's Kaleidoscope — a unique amulet with +2 all skills and all resistances. |
| SOJ | Stone of Jordan — a unique ring with +1 skills and mana. Historically the most iconic D2 item. |
| BK | Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band — a unique ring with +1 skills and life. |
| War Travs | War Traveler — unique boots with high MF, popular for farming. |
| Arach / Arachs | Arachnid Mesh — unique belt with +1 skills and FCR. |
| Tals | Tal Rasha's set (or specific pieces). The full set is a popular Sorceress loadout. |
| IK | Immortal King's set — a popular Barbarian set. |
| Andy's / Andys | Andariel's Visage — a unique helmet popular for mercenaries. |
| Treachery | Shael + Thul + Lem runeword in body armor. Budget merc armor with IAS and Fade proc. |
